Annotation
The reason most diets fail is that many “diet foods” stimulate the appetite and trigger out-of-control eating. This startling, proven guide to eating indicates which foods turn the metabolism on to start burning fat. Includes a balanced weight-loss regimen and a satisfying maintenance plan.
BookList
Conceding his looks a lot like other reducing diets, Podell trumpets its difference. Watch your sugars and carbohydrates, he says. Prefer fruit, pasta, “noodle-like” prepared cereals (e.g., All-Bran) and old-fashioned oatmeal (rolled oats), and several foodstuffs physically different from very similar others (e.g., coarse-grain breads rather than flour breads). Why? Because they have a low glycemic-index rating, i.e., they release sugar into the system more slowly, so that appetite-stimulating insulin production in response to the sugar is curbed. The best part of using low “g-index” foods (which Podell helpfully lists, even by brand names) is that it helps in not only losing but stabilizing weight. The recipes and menus Podell includes cap his argument and go it one better by demonstrating that this diet lets you eat very well, thank you.
